The Bridge to Cross the Path
Hello Everyone,
Please forgive my ignorance of the bible and it's characters, I am just starting to understand some of the stories and meanings.
My question has to do with part of FOTFS, in chapter3 of the second book, page 125.
"Help to spread the light upon Judas, the man of Kariot, for man to be able to make the bridge with which to cross the path of Peter to the path of John, and then give himself to the kiss of the sacred Princess Sac-Nicte"
Does anyone have a knowledge of what this may mean, in gnostic terms?
I know nothing of Peter, and all I know of John is that he was Jesus' cousin and a baptist (but even that I'm not sure about).
Would you recommend I read a bible to further understand for myself? Are all bibles the same, can I just pick up one and it will be the same information as the rest?
Jo
Thankyou Sabah!
Perhaps a different point in the same book can help to understand too, the part where he asks himself why Peter died with his head on the earth, and John leans on the sacred heart of Jesus. He says maybe because Peter died with his head on the earth, his sheep were badly put to pasture, or something like that. At points Jesus refers to Peter as "simple", and John is often called the "beloved". But then at another point Jesus just flat-out calls Peter "Satan". There are always layers to truth, different angles, different understandings, in the same message, so there really will never be a clear-cut interpretation, but if you want to understand the disciples as symbols or archetypes then I would think you need to read the bible enough to get your own feelings about the characters involved. It doesn't really matter what version. I personally prefer the language of the King James version, but as long as it's not the lolcat version or something, then you're okay I think.
Hi Jo
I have read the canonized Bible in the past and find it inspiring. Often when I go back to it, perhaps after some spiritual growth, I will see things in a new light with clearer understanding. It is better to read the bible for yourself rather than rely on others' interpretations. I have been reading the Pistis Sophia and find it very helpful to both understand the canonized bible better, and to get more understanding with the esoteric studies.
The P.S. describes the roles of the Twelve Apostles, which represent the twelve parts of our own being. Peter is related to the sexual magic; "that Self-conscious part of our profound interior Being related with the Mysteries of sex.
John is the babtizer. The encounter with John always takes place in the Second Initiation of the Fire.
My understanding thus far would be that we need to work with the alchemy to purify the energy. "By the time that the energy has been converted to a red colour, the process of the probative path has completed and the First Mountain has begun."
To get a better understanding in gnostic terms, I'd say it would be good to have the Pistis Sophia for reference.
edit: also in PS:
Virtue is the Spirit of the Light that crystallizes within ourselves when the ego dies. John baptizes by Grace and Christ is the Truth. Virtue and Peace always kiss eachother.
Grace (the Light-Power) is the spirit that comes to us in the Baptism (a pact of sexual magic), then we reach the inner Self-realization of the Being.... It is possible to inherit the Light-Kingdom only by means of the Mysteries of Virtue. The sexual creative energy of Shiva is also referred to as the Holy Spirit.
So we have that of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit which you will also find reference to in the canonized Bible. And we yearn for the sweet kiss of the Divine, we seek the Light to illuminate the path that leads from the grave to the cradle.
Hope you don't find this too 'long-winded'. :)
Thanks Jim,
I have just purchased a bible, it's a good idea to find these things for myself, like you say :)
Everything will come together the more experience I get, I'm looking forward to it! Of course no better understanding than the one experienced for oneself so I hope to get a deep knowledge in my life about these words, as well as an intellectual understanding of what they mean.
Jo
That's awesome, thanks Sharon for sharing with me what you have found in the Pistis Sophia. I have not read it yet, so it's now on my list of things to check out.
I didn't find it long-winded at all, you have found a beautiful quote, and to me seams very relevent.
Well, if you don't see me for a while you know it's because I have my nose stuck in either the bible or the Pistis Sophia :)
Jo

Hello Jo,
You've asked some good questions, and I think with the vast depth and symbolism of texts like the Flight of the Feathered Serpent & the 4 gospels, we gain more and more understanding from them through our own experience of the spiritual work, as they are teachings for anyone who wishes to take up the same spiritual work done by the disciples of Jesus.
Jesus' life was symbolic - the events and people in it represent what an initiate has to face and go through on the path to awakening (during the second stage or 'second mountain'). From my understanding, Peter and John represent certain stages of the path. Jesus calls Peter the 'rock' that he founds his church upon, the foundation of the work. The role of John the Baptist was to 'make straight the way of the Lord', he prepared the way for Christ to come, and for Gnostics this preparation is part of the first mountain.
I'm not sure if there is a particular Bible that is the best to read, but I have heard that the English Standard Version is a good literal translation.
Best wishes,
Sabah
